Banners for three of the principal holy orders; the Hospitallers, the Teutonic Order and the Templars. Sewn from coloured fabric, sleeved to fit a 30mm pole.

Painted

Leg VIIII vexilum

Made for the old 9th Legion in Sydney. Paint on woolen fabric, commercial fringe, tinned brass on leather dangly bits.

Gauntlet banner

I had some spare blue gaberdine, found the gauntlet pattern in a heraldry book.

Four Apostles gonfanons

Made for the processional Missa Cataractensis, the symbols are for each of the four Evangelists. Mathew was represented by a man with wings, Mark by a lion, Luke by an ox or a calf and John by an eagle. The designs are from the Book of Kells. Paint on silk, leather tabs. Canton of Berne banner

Bernese bear painted on hand dyed brocade linen. Polished Mountain Ash pole, turned finiam, octagonal head, wrapped fringe.
